Uniqueness • The section is rooted at the IIT Kharagpur • Initially it was emerged as a small chapter with only 60 members under IEEE Kolkata Section in 1983. • In 13th May, 1985 it renunciated as the IEEE Kharagpur Section • Members comprise of faculty, staff and students from IIT Kharagpur and HIT Haldia.

Uniqueness • Organizes an industrial trip every year to enhance industry-academic relations. • Organize regular seminars by visiting experts , technically cosponsor International and National conferences held in the region • Financial (partial) travel support to student members for paper presentation in International conferences

  6. Uniqueness • The IEEE Kharagpur Section organizes workshops, conferences, symposium, colloquium, lectures by renowned personalities frequently. • For the more than past 25 years, the IEEE Kharagpur Section has helped its members advances their careers and the field of computing and the development of mankind.

Major Events • Technically co-sponsored IEEE-EMBS Special Topic Conference on Point-of-Care Health Technologies during 16-18 January 2013 held at Bangalore • Technically co-sponsored IEEE 8th International Conference on Industrial and Information Systems (ICIIS) during 17 Dec - 20 Dec 2013 held at Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering University of Peradeniya, Peradeniya, Sri Lanka • Technically co-sponsored International Conference on VLSI and Signal Processing (ICVSP) during 10-12 January 2014 held at Electronics and Electrical Communication Engineering, IIT Kharagpur, India • Technically sponsored 2nd International Conference on Business and Information Management (ICBIM) during 09 Jan - 11 Jan 2014 held at City Residency Gandhi More, Durgapur, India

Major Student and Affinity Group Activities • "IEEE Workshop on MEMS & Microsystems With Hands-on training in Device Simulation and Microfabrication Process“ during 4 – 6 July, 2013. • Seminar on "Open Source Technologies“ on October 8, 2013. • Workshop on "LaTeX (Document Type setting for Paper / Thesis Writing)“ on October 8, 2013. • Jointly organized three Invited IEEE PEER Talks • IEEE Student Branch with IEEE EMB Student Club, Machine Learning reading group and WiE Affinity has organized two Invited Talks • Jointly organized Medical camp on March 30, 2013 • Celebrated IEEE Day on October 8, 2013
