INTRODUCINGPure PCs construct our Linac control system • Status: Begin from 93’and finished at 95’ • Developed Tool: Turbo C based on MS-DOS • HMI: Graphic console with mouse • Data archives: Magnet current record and reset • Architecture: Independence subsystem function • Hard ware: PC-104 I/O board, PLC with optic-serial connection
How to upgrade our control system? Till 95’, our control system situation is in the first step---system digitalization. Next step is network.After 97’, we decided to choice and test something to let our control system take part in the network.
The essential system goals are: • Data share in network • Exactness and stability I/O • Opening architecture & easily to Extend • Easily to use • Inexpensive
Two method for upgrading our control system • Mostly using fieldbus and remote I/O to upgrade ADCs exactness • Directly using WinSocket Application to enhance network function in PC-104 I/O logic system
What fieldbus can we select? Condition: • Advantage---- Low machine repetition (<100Hz) • Disadvantage---Noise • Large number equipment located at spread area
What are we deciding?(Major considerations are cost and technological support) • Command circle between in 2ms to 4ms • Baud ration can be set to 115.2Kbit/s ---Maximum PC’s mother-board support • Parity and CRC or FCS verification • Needn’t relay driver • Two pair twist wire are used to decrease conflict during communication ---- RS-422 electric standard
In our case, the best must have: • Data transfer distance is long enough (about 400M) • Communication support by MS-Windows directly (lowest costs) • Connection mechanism not very strict (No need special pipe or orbit for wiring) • Competitive in ratio of performance / cost (To maintain its running is cheaper enough)
A remote IO based on MCS-52 are brought over in our control system
How to let control system join into Internet? Control system not only works nice independently, but also works nice with other programs together. To translate message each other is convenience . An interface model that based on WinSocket to manage PC’s Serial Port ----Comm for Internet (CFN)-----that had been tested to be very stable and powerful.
Comm for Internet (CFN) has a few favorites: • Directly diagnose fieldbus on line • Data error detected and special treatment • Standard TCP/IP server (10 users ) • Source code For system security reason, all the local programs must bring two WinSocket are recommended that one is connected with CFN for I/O operation, another is already waiting to support Internet servers requiring.
Our control system newly situation • Lot kinds of subsystem---vacuum monitor, klystron interlock, beam analysis power supplies ramp and circumstance temperature alarm ---are connected together and under control • Information and some special functions are available in our institute around
Future Plans • Magnet power supplies and the rest subsystem will be replaced soon using remote I/O. • The commercial product ----WizCon---will be tested using its SoftPLC and Profibus-DP. • The upper layer network DATABASE project will be lunched. • Information based on JAVA will be developed.
Conclusion • PC that integrates flexible graphic console, excellent developer tool, powerful communication and low costs will take a more and more important role in control system. • We inherit our tradition to code all control programs along with PC and new control technology development .
