THE BATHS, PART 2
Following the paelestra, the first room which one entered was the tepidarium (warm room).
Patrons would sit on benches in a warm, steamy environment, where they would perspire.
Following the tepidarium, patrons would then enter the caldarium (the hot room).
This was the main room of the baths, where patrons would all soak in a giant pool of hot water.
After their bath, they would rub olive oil into their skin.
A slave would then scrape off the oil from his master’s skin, using a strigil (scraper).
A patron would then enjoy a massage afterwards from a masseur.
Before dressing again, patrons would then go to the frigidarium (cold room) and take a swim in the deep pool of water.
