Paul Rust David Urban Viktoria Sauter Caroline Rechberg Michaela Schreiner 8c, 26.05.2003 HISTORY • The automobile is an important part of modern life. • For most people, it is hard to imagine how they would live without it. • not only positive aspects of cars , but negative consequences. • history about the evolution of automobiles. • invented for two main reasons. • Firstly, for transportation. With the help of a motor-driven vehicle, it would be faster to travel from one place to another. • Secondly, used to transfer objects or goods. • The car was not invented in one day or by one person. It evolved slowly from the ideas of many people. • Leonardo da Vinci and Isaac Newton were known to draw the first theoretical plans for motor vehicles. • The very first self-propelled road vehicle was built by a french engineer and mechanic called Nicholas Joseph Cugnot. • estimated that 100,000 patents created the modern automobile. • first car did not look very alike to the cars we drive now. Since then, automobiles have improved and developed and they are still doing this now.

Millions of cars used every day. • Either used to drive to work for five minutes or to visit relatives in foreign countries, and drive for several hours. • Cars enable us to get from one point to another in an extremely fast manner. • easily accessable (compared to planes!) • if you own enough money, almost every person can buy one. • This makes them so much more popular than any other transportation option in the world. AIR POLLUTION • greatest harm cars are causing is the pollution of air. • If there were only few cars in the world, the pollution they produce would not cause a problem. • the vast number of cars there are is becoming a bigger problem with every day. Nature can nothandle the devastating air pollution that is taking place right now. • engineers and car factories are working on cars which do not produce as many gases and spare the environment. Oil is a natural resource and can not be renewed. • Cars use oil so they can run • since the number of cars is increasing every day, the amount of oil being used is extremely high. • the world oil supply will not be there for much longer; sooner or later, no oil will be left. • Experts are already working on cars which use water or other accessible resources to run. Paul Rust David Urban Viktoria Sauter Caroline Rechberg Michaela Schreiner 8c, 26.05.2003 Leisure Time • If a person owns a car, can drive with it whenever they want to • can travel to whatever place they would like to go. • If they travel by airplane or train, they are restricted in their mobility and have to consider certain time plans, which may not agree with their personal time plan. • people can establish and hold upright more contacts because they can move around with a car freely. • Professional car races are shown on television to entertain. Many people are enthusiastic fans of these races, the drivers and the race cars. • When the first cars were built and further developed, many mechanics were inspired by this. They figured that, when people could invent such a thing as a car, they were able to do a lot more. • began thinking of different ways of moving around and even the idea of flying evolved from the invention of the automobile.

  7. biggest disadvantage of automobiles is high amount of car accidents and the deaths that occur because of them. • Every day, there are hundreds of car crashes all over the world, • several people die. • the present level of technology is being abused. • High speed cars are driven to their full extent and traffic rules are being ignored. • However, car accidents would not even be avoidable if every person drove with the greatest responsibility. Everyone makes mistakes, and car crashes can also happen because of different reasons than the irresponsibility of people.
