  4. The establishment of a Public Health District provides the accessibility to services that will assist in building healthy communities for the children and adults who live in Pinal County.

  5. Key Events • District established July 11, 2007 • Funded with $0.001 per dollar sales tax (1/10th of one percent) • Tax collection began October 1, 2007

Role of Public Health • Public Health’s core functions are to provide: • Immunizations • Control of sexually transmitted disease • Control of communicable disease • Family planning • Nutrition of children and pregnant mothers • Public Health provides health education programs in: • Nutrition • Sexual abstinence, • Teen pregnancy prevention • Physical fitness • And many other specialized programs

  14. Key Points How we will respond to the challenge: Increase accessibility through 100% increase in clinic hours, use of mobile clinics and regional clinics that are opened Mon-Sat 7am-7pm. Immunization rate will increase to 80%. Additional disease investigators to manage increase caseload of STD and communicable disease. Establish programs based upon community needs.
