What we do Use business to bring transformation to the world’s poor • We believe business can bring personal and social transformation • We seek to create jobs and self-sustainable ethical businesses • Together we can give a hand-up, rather than a hand-out and restore dignity
Riziki – “provision” • Microfinance programme for entrepreneurs in Kibera • Saving and loan scheme • Currently 46 entrepreneurs • Office just outside Kibera
Riziki example: Rosemary • Tailoring business • Traning 3 students • Keen to start a new business • Children now at boarding school, one now at college level
Riziki example: Zena • Retail outlet • Increasingly a wholesaler of some products e.g. milk • Wants to increase this side • Can afford to educate her kids
Riziki example: Solomon • Restaurant business • Tea cost 5 Kenya Shillings (4p!) • Wants to extend area inside and add a TV
Fusion Capital • SME fund with 262 clients borrowing £1500 - £35k • Clients pay 15% interest (less than any other source) • Commercial and profitable therefore sustainable • All those I spoke to said they could not get bank loans as they had no security • Most have emerged from microfinance though most micro business owners do not have the skills to make the transition

Bulembu, Swaziland • 43% HIV/AIDs, life expectancy now 31 • Bulembu, an abandoned mining town is being brought back to life to care for orphans

Inspire Review - GAFCON • GAFCON, 1000 church leaders including 300 Bishops, mainly from Africa • Kim Tan, Jerry Marshall, Andy Tanswell and Colin Timms made presentations. • Invitations from an Anglican Development organisation in Gombe, Nigeria; also from Kenya, Uganda and Rwanda. • Email Jerry if these areas interest you and sign up for an expo / business training to these areas.

Support Plans • Partner Seed Fund • Develop core team for increased personal support (2 FT / 1 PT) • Member training – induction, expos, running a successful TBN project, etc.
Financial Summary • Undesignated known income = £53k membership income (incl Gift aid) + £7k conferences, ie £5k/mth • Total staff costs and expenses at current hours approx £3100/month, other expenses approx £1400/month • Seeking funding to increase core team for development and increased support, as well as for the seed fund and one off development costs. • Aim is to be self sufficient at a much higher level of activity with 400 members and over 200 projects in 2 years.
Conclusion On the right path but much more we can do • to inspire others • to help members find where they can best engage • and provide personal and project support - in order to fulfill our vision to bring transformation to the world’s poor
