  33. Use the ENTER key whenever possible! (Bolding and/or activation ‘halo’ means the Enter key will select that button)

  34. Activation can be moved around using arrow or tab keys, options or pop-down menus can be selected or unselected using the Space bar.

  35. ALT KEY + Underlined letters (OR arrows) will activate menus. Note: Sometimes the Alt key can simply be ‘tapped’ to select a particular menu, and sometimes it needs to be held down to function (as with Cntrl+Alt+Del, or Alt+Tab)

  36. Moving the cursor and highlighting text in a Voyager record. • The Arrow keys will take you to the relevant field. • F8 Activates the cursor in that field. • Highlights can be made using combinations of Arrows, Shift, and Cntrl keys. Experiment on your own!

  38. Some tips on using MS Word • If the ‘assistant’ pops up, and isn’t useful, select the relevant options, or simply right-click on the image and select “Hide”.

  39. If you’re frustrated that MS Word is always re-formatting your lists, changing punctuation, etc., EditUndo (or Cntrl+Z) will correct on a case by case basis…

  40. But to solve the issue permanently, go to the Format Menu, select “Options”, and un-select the desired boxes.

  41. Red and green underlining alerts you to possible spelling or grammar issues, respectively. Some words aren’t recognized even if typed correctly. If the underlining bothers you, right click the word and choose “add to dictionary”. The grammar checker lists the possible error, and you can chose to correct or ignore, and the green line will disappear.

  42. Symbols and special characters can be inserted using the InsertSymbol menu.

  43. Symbols/Special characters, contd.

  44. To find particular words in an MS Word document, simply use Cntrl+F (or Edit MenuFind…)

  45. The same command (Cntrl+F) can be used to find words in an Internet Explorer page…
