A Different Team Leadership Model • Decide when to use teams and when they are not appropriate • Have the basic critical skills to working in the team environment • Create a team identity that values and understands diversity • Develop effective interpersonal skills including influence without authority • Successfully manage team conflict

By learning what constitutes excellent teams, leaders can better learn how to lead teams to the highest levels of excellence. Takes into account the complex nature of team leadership. Provides a cognitive guide that help leaders to design and maintain effective teams. Takes into account the changing role of leaders and followers in organizations. Helps in selecting team leaders. Weaknesses Entire model is not completely supported or tested. Suggestions for new and creative directions in leadership training are vague, complex, and somewhat overwhelming. Complexity of the model is also a weakness. It is so complex and does not provide easy answers to difficult decisions for the leader. Long list of team leadership skills makes it very difficult to know where to start. Strength & Weaknesses of Team Leadership
