  1. RESPIRATION AND CIRCULATION Systems working together

  2. Use the back of your circulatory system slide guide.

  3. Oxygen Goes In • Air is breathed in. • In the lungs, the ALVEOLI give OXYGEN to the small CAPILLARIES (blood vessels). • The HEART pumps the oxygen-rich blood to the ARTERIES. • The ARTERIES transport it to every part of the body.

  4. CARBON DIOXIDE OUT • The blood picks up the waste gas, CARBON DIOXIDE, from every body part. • The VEINS transport the oxygen-poor blood back to the HEART. • The HEART pumps the blood to the LUNGS. • The LUNGS take the CARBON DIOXIDE and release it out through the TRACHEA, and NOSE OR MOUTH.

  5. WORKING TOGETHER • Respiration is the process of exchanging oxygen and carbon dioxide. • Circulation is the process of moving blood containing oxygen to every body part, and removing carbon dioxide. • Respiration and circulation work together for the blood to deliver oxygen to cells in all body parts, and to remove carbon dioxide from them.

  6. Diagram • Follow along as a diagram of the process is drawn. • Now you draw your own diagram and label it!
