  4. Development of NFIRS • America Burning1972 (Commission on Fire Prevention and Control) • United States Fire Administration (USFA) was created to evaluate the Nation’s fire problem

National Fire Information Council (NFIC) • To encourage and perpetuate the use of the National Fire Incident Reporting System (NFIRS) by states and local fire departments. • To provide a direct line of communication between its members and the United States Fire Administration (USFA).
