  2. Context – the Clean vehicles directive Directive 2009/33/EC(The Clean Vehicles Directive - CVD) obliges all public authorities and public transport operators to take into account: • Fuel consumption • CO2 emissions • Harmful local emissions (Nox, PM, NMHC)

  3. Context – the Clean vehicles directive Different options for implementation: • Setting minimum requirements (technical specifications) • Award criteria • Monetising environmental impacts (following a specific methodology)

  4. Aims of the project To support public authorities in procuring cleaner vehicles, in line with the requirements of the CVD To promote the exchange of experience between authorities To contribute to the market introduction of alternative fuels and vehicle technologies ……avoiding this↑

Assistance & support • Guide on clean vehicle procurement & CVD implementation • Development of training package • 2 Train the trainer seminars (Sofia – May, Rome – June 2014) • Offer of direct advice and assistance in tendering • Helpdesk on clean vehicle procurement • Other: News, events, factsheet series

  7. Exchange • European and national workshops • Case study series • Working groups – bus technology options, LCC/TCO/WLC/OLC • Discussion group to be launched on the Procurement Forum (www.procurement-forum.org)
