  2. PQH (NI) • accredited course for those aspiring to headship; • underpinned by the National Standards for Headteachers; • designed to facilitate adult learning; • provides blended learning opportunities; and • promotes both individual and organisational learning.

  3. National Standards for Headteachers Define, for headteachers: • the core purpose of their job; • the outcomes they need to achieve; • the knowledge and professional skills necessary; and • leadership and management actions across six key areas.

  4. Revised Model • greater emphasis on self assessment; • more challenging entry process; • a personalised leadership development journey; • placement (in another context); and • closer to headship.

Assessment and Development event • Personal Development Review • Personal Development Record • Assessment and development activities reflecting the role of headteacher • Determine individual strengths and areas for development

  9. Development Elements of development stage: • induction; • coaching • placement; • peer learning; • workplace learning; • online materials and online activities; and • attendance at conferences and seminars.

  10. DevelopmentIntroductory Day • explanation of stage elements; • reflection of Personal Development Record; and • formation of peer learning groups.

  11. DevelopmentCoaching • 5-7 hour entitlement ( f2f, telephone, online) • Coaches • successful heads -skills and competences verified by RTU • work with trainee head to achieve goals set out in Personal Development Record
