Costs of War • Before the war the pentagon put out estimates that the war would cost about $50,ooo,ooo,ooo ($50 Billion) • Later estimates from top economic advisers reached $200,000,000,000 ($200 Billion) • These estimates have been blown out of the water by the actual costs and projected costs now due to the ever worsening situation. • The cost as of 3/18/09 were approaching $606,000,000,000 ($606 Billion) • Estimations for the total cost of the war are now reaching $1,200,000,000,000 ($1.2 Trillion)
Alternative Possible Uses • Doubling cancer research funds, creating treatments programs for people with diabetes and heart disease and, creating a global program to give immunizations to children around the world, for ten years would not even amount to half the estimated $1.2 Trillion • The war as it is now is costing around $200,000,000,000 ($200 Billion) • Creating opportunities for children to enroll in full year preschool would only cost • $35,000,000,000 ($35 Billion)
Deaths and Injuries (as of March 19, 2009) • Total U.S. Deaths – 4,261
