  3. Kharif 2008-Assessment Rainfall Scenario *During first fortnight Rainfall has been scanty, consequently Diesel Subsidy @ Rs. 150/Acre to save Paddy crop has been sanctioned. Source-India Met. Dept.

Flood 2008 • Kosi embankment breach at Kusha (Nepal) has caused immense suffering including great loss to Agriculture • Affected Districts-5(no.) • Affected Blocks-34(no.) • Total Crop Area Damaged-2.00 lakh ha. • Total Crop Damage-Rs. 257.77 crore • Agriculture Rehabilitation Plan–Rs. 934.70 crore

  15. Rashtriya Krishi Vikas Yojna 2008-09 • Status of District Agriculture Plan –preparation going on (will be completed by 15.10.2008) • State Level Sanctioning Committee convened on 8.8.2008. Total sanctioned scheme - Rs. 182.26 crores. • Sector wise sanctioned scheme- • Agriculture-Rs. 106.34 lakh (58%) • Animal Husbandry-24.97 (13%) • Dairy- 40.00(21%) • Fisheries- 2.41(1%) • Cooperatives- 8.54(4%)

  16. Issues • A special Agriculture Rehabilitation Package for Kosi victims • Pre positioning of P & K fertilizers in November- December (Preferably November) • Release of Ist Installment for ISOPOM & RKVY Schemes • Availability of Foundation Seed for Gram & Lentil

  17. Best Practices • Spreading HYV Seeds in possible time to all villages • Mukhya Mantri Tibra Beej Vistar Yojna • 2 farmers from every village to get Foundation seed for Half Acre at 50 percent cost • 39000 Villages covered during Kharif 2008.

Best Practices • Reaching out HYV Seeds in minimum possible time • Mukhya Mantri Tibra Beej Vistar Yojna • 2 farmers from every village to get foundation seed for half acre for cereals and one fouth acre for pulses & oilseeds at 50 percent cost. • 39000 villages covered for Paddy during current Kharif
