  3. Dependent Use • Subjunctive word is NOT used by itself, but is dependent on having some other stuff • Often has this set up: Introducing word sign post word subj. verb (does not have to (particular to be subjunctive) certain dependent use and so is a “sign” as to which use it is)

  4. Pg. 6 Indirect Question • DEPENDENT USE • *statement of knowledge you HAVE or NEED • Translation will be normal Introducing word sign post word subj. verb Verb of knowledge question word (Scio, Rogo, etc.) (Quis, cur, etc.) Scio quid ageres. I know what you were doing.

  6. “Caveat” (warning) • You can have an indirect question inside of a direct question, so long as the criteria for each are met. So do NOT look at punctuation of the sentence to determine type. • Mirarisne quaenam sis?
