4. EXPECTED BEHAVIOR RULES(sameaspreschool ) • Follow directions the first time given • Stay on task • Be prepared • Keep arms, hands, feet and objects to yourself • No swearing, crude gestures or cruel teasing • Great Expectations is about Respect—Be Respectful

5. 1st Offense: Student/Teacher conference 2nd Offense: Parent Contact, and possible referral to administrator 3rd Offense: Team Conference with student, parent, teachers, and administrators. Referral to appropriate administrator. Disruption of Instruction

10. CELL PHONES Students will sign a contract if they want to bring a phone to school. Phones are allowed out during breakfast and lunch. All phones, ear plugs, electronic devices, and/or any other wireless telecommunication devices MUST be turned OFF when students enter hallways and are in ALL other areas of the building.

11. Cell phone/communication device offenses: Phones in the hall or classroom: (1st) Phone is confiscated by teacher and picked up by student at the end of the hour from their teacher. Phones in the hall/class: (2nd)Phone is confiscated and picked turned in to admin. Administrator will conference with student and parent and return phone to student at the end of the day. Phones that are confiscated the (3rd)time are turned in to an administrator, parent is notified to pick up phone from assigned principal. Fourth Offense—Revocation of Telecommunication Contract.

12. Surveillance Cameras Surveillance cameras are located throughout the building for added security. Administrators have access to footage throughout the day for clarity of specific situations.

13. John Marshall Dress Code Policy2015-2016 • Students will wear polo collared shirts with the following colors: MS (Red or White) HS (Navy Blue or White). • Students may not expose low chest or midriff • Students can wear black or khaki colored slacks, jeans, capri’s, skirts, shorts, or skorts (two inches above the knees). Absolutely no jeggings or leggings allowed. • ALL pants will be worn on the waistline properly or with a belt (absolutely no sagging). No hats or sweatbands can be worn in school. •  Any type of athletic shoe is acceptable along with boot and closed-toe dress shoes. NO FLIP FLOPS, HOUSE SHOES OR LOOKALIKES. • Solid colored hoodies or sweaters, JM sweatshirts, and school/club team shirts/jackets can be worn with uniform shirt underneath. Team sweat outfits to be worn only on game days. • All heavy winter jackets must be put in your lockers 

14. UNIFORM ADDITIONS All JM T-shirts including all athletic, club, event and Finance Academy shirts are acceptable as uniform attire. If you wear a JM or solid colored hoodie, you must have a uniform shirt underneath.

16. SCANNING All students are required to go through the security scanner at the southeast gym entrance door until 7:25 a.m. Students will remove outerwear with proper attire for scanning purposes Students are allowed to enter the front door scanners at 7:30 a.m. NO EXCEPTIONS! *After scanning proceed to cafeteria or commons areas and await dismissal to classrooms

17. MIDDLE SCHOOL CAFETERIA RULES When entering the cafeteria for lunch, either be seated at a table or line-up in your chosen food line. Only 5 students at a time are to enter to pay for food items. Once items are purchased, sit at your chosen table and eat and/or converse using your “classy restaurant voice”. After finishing your lunch, throw away all of your trash and either return to your chosen table or proceed to the courtyard. During inclement weather all students will stay inside at their chosen table. Students will NOT roam around the cafeteria/foyer area. Note: If purchasing food items from the vending machines or student council sales, after purchasing items, students are to return to their chosen table.

18. Please clean up after yourself; no food items outside of the cafeteria. No throwing food in the cafeteria or elsewhere in the building—this can result in suspension. No horse playing/inappropriate behavior in cafeteria/courtyard Do not leave the cafeteria without permission from an administrator. In case of an emergency, see the administrator or adult authority on duty for further instructions. LUNCH BOUNDARIESNo food items are to be delivered

19. Students are referred to Lunch Detention by their teacher or administrator. Lunch and Learn or Detention is assigned based on Academics and/or Behavior. 2nd semester, lunch detention will be extended to students that do not know their multiplication facts. Math teachers will inform Ms. Davis-Woody about students who are still deficient in learning their facts and students will be assigned to detention daily, until facts are completely learned. Ms. Davis-Woody will give the final oral test to determine release from detention. Lunch and Learn or Detention(Located in MS designated Classroom)

20. Attendance Policy Eleven (11) unexcused absences during the semester may result in low grades and gaps in learning. Students may be ticketed for skipping class, even if you are in the building. For excused absences, students will have up to 5 days (per district policy.) to make-up missing assignments.  After the 5 day period, the student will receive a permanent zero in the grade book if work has not been completed. For unexcused absences, a student will have 3 days to turn in late work, with a 15% penalty each day toward the grade of that assignment.

21. You are tardy after the tardy bell rings and you are outside of the classroom. If you are 15 or more minutes late, it is counted as an absence and your parent will be notified. 1st and 2nd tardy =Warning/Conference 3rd tardy=Parent contact/note in smartweb 4th -5th tardy=Lunch detention/contact parent 6th tardy=Referral to Administrator Tardy Policy

22. Truancy A student is considered truant when absent from the classroom without the knowledge of either the school or parent. If a student is absent from school four or more days or partial days within a four week period--without a valid excuse for eleven (11) or more days during a semester--the attendance officer will inform the parents that they are not in compliance with the law and will notify the district attorney for Oklahoma County. Ticket may be issued. Parents can be fined for each day their child is truant from school..

23. 1st Offense: Referral to administrator, ISI assigned, and parent contacted 2nd Offense: Three days in-school suspension (ISI), parent conference 3rd Offense: Five days in-school suspension (ISI), parent conference *Student and Parent may be fined by Court for Truancy Skipping Class

24. School Activities A maximum of 10 days of activity absences--per semester from any one class-- are permitted during a school year.

25. Riding a bus is not a right and can be taken away if behavior is inappropriate. Be aware that buses are outfitted with day and night vision video/audio cameras. Buses

26. Closed Campus All students are required to remain on campus throughout the entire school day. Only a parent/guardian can check students out.

27. Tobacco/Drug Free School DON’T POSSESS DON’T USE DON’T BE UNDER THE INFLUENCE DON’T DISTRIBUTE Maximum consequences will be enforced for students under the influence or in possession/possession with intent to distribute.

28. Clubs/Sports CHESS CLUB SOCCER FOOTBALL BASKETBALL SOFTBALL/BASEBALL VOLLEYBALL AND MUCH MUCH MORE!!! GET INVOLVED!!

29. TINKER FEDERAL CREDIT UNION John Marshall has a bank in the school!! Yes, an actual bank and it functions as such. It’s purpose is to train students for real-world bank or credit union teller jobs. HS students enrolled in the Finance Academy classes are eligible to work in the bank.

30. Parents are welcome in our school, however, they must report to the main office and request to have their child sent to the main office. Appointments must be made to speak with teachers during the school day. A 24-hour notice must be approved by administrator if a parent wants to shadow their student. Parent Visitation

31. IMPROVING CRTs and Academic Growth ADMINISTRATORS,TEACHERS and STUDENTS WILL WORK HARD DAILY TO IMPROVE OUR Benchmarks, CRTs, etc.—Note: We have Academic Achievement Classes to our Master Schedule to ensure greater success in mastery of skills. WE WILL STRIVE FOR EXCELLENCE IN ALL ASSIGNMENTS!

32. 2015-16 is a grrreat year to FOCUS ON RESULTS!!! GO BEARS!!!
