Health Curriculum Overview In addition to learning science, we will have 3 weeks of health lessons this year. • In 6th grade, we cover the following health topics: • Personal and emotional health • Emergency preparedness, fire safety, skin protection • Mental health These will be spread throughout the year and not taught consecutively.
Earth Science Course Overview We’ll explore: Scientific methods Erosion and weathering Plate tectonics, earthquakes, volcanoes Atmosphere, weather, climate Natural resources, ecology, energy
Class Supplies • Binder with a Science section • 2 single subject notebooks (1 per semester) • Pens (blue/black plus 1 red for corrections), pencils, & an eraser • Colored pencils/markers, scissors, glue sticks, & a metric/customary ruler
Grading Points consist of the following percentages: • 30% Homework/class work • 55% Tests, Quizzes, and Projects • 15% labs If you earn a test score less than 80%, you will retake the test once to earn up to 80%. Homework/class work that is corrected with red pen will receive 100%

Absences and Late Work • Students will get one makeup day for each day absent. Assignments given out prior to an absence are due when the student returns to school. • Inform me as soon as possible if you will be out for a long time. • Late assignments can earn up to 70% credit.
Refrain from: • Copying other people’s work • Talking during a test • Making up lab data Consequences: you earn no points on the assignment, you complete a Mustang PRIDE: Learning Life Skills Reflection, and I contact a parent.
