Steps for Strategic Planning Session • Step 1: Discuss alignment of BRG or Inclusion Council Committee to business opportunities and strategies. • Step 2: Possibility Thinking Activity • Step 3: Prioritization Process • Step 4: Begin Creating Strategic Plan
Step 2: Possibility Thinking Activity • Answer the question, “What things should your Inclusion Council Committee or BRG start doing?” Use post-it notes to capture the work the Inclusion Council or BRG could do if the sky was the limit and place on the appropriate flip chart. • Review the items as a team and group into main themes. • Combine items where appropriate and look for ways to balance out the flip charts. Are there some flip charts more full than others?
Step 2 Result: Inclusion Council & BRG Outcomes Membership Connections Outcomes: • Improve employee’s awareness of the Bank’s Engagement & Inclusion Strategy through clear and consistent communications of events, meetings and networking opportunities • Reflect the Bank’s values and demographics of employees, markets and communities through internal and external communication vehicles • Demonstrate a strong brand/identity through the Inclusion Council and BRGs communication vehicles • Metrics: % of constituency population & membership growth, active vs inactive, # retained & promoted, hits on ILP. Corporate Social Responsibility Outcomes: • Enhance Bank’s reputation by leveraging involvement in key community events • Generate talent pipeline from key community events • Increase employee engagement through community volunteerism. Metrics: Marketing from event, Ad placement targeted to diverse groups, # in community served, community service volunteer hrs, logged, # referrals, resumes & interviews. Business Excellence Outcomes: • Contribute to new client relationships , retention of existing clients, & recruiting opportunities by identifying key organizations to partner with for business networking • Enhance multicultural campaigns, product & services through BRG insights and input • Improve the Bank’s operational excellence through the development of more efficient ways of accomplishing our goals Metrics: New business relationships, # accounts opened, ATM transactions, track # focus groups, insights gleamed, influence on product development, marketing strategy & ads. • Employee Development • Outcomes: • Increase talent optimization, internal placements, retention, engagement & inclusion through career dev. opportunities • Enhance intercultural competence of employees • Develop business knowledge/savvy through learning events • Metrics: % of participation of employees & Leaders, # promo/ transfers, # new members, event feedback, pre & post evals
Step 3: Prioritization Process • Move the items to the Prioritization Chart and rank from High to Low in the areas of Business Impact, Resources Match and Strategic Link. • Add up the scores and determine the year the task will be targeted. Example: Prioritization Chart
Step 4: Draft Plan • Move the items that can be completed this upcoming year to the IC/BRG Strategic Planning Template and begin completing the fields in the template. Example:
