  1. Online 7th Grade Registration 2013-2014

  2. 7th Grade Required Classes • The middle school day consists of seven periods and CC. The following full-year courses are required of all eighth grade students: • Communication Arts or Pre-Advanced Placement Communication Arts 7 • Math 7 or Pre-Algebra 7 • Science 7 • Ancient World Civilzations 7 (Social Studies) • Physical Education & Health 7 • REMINDER: Character Connection Class (CCC) remains the same throughout all of your middle school years!

  3. Elective Class Combinations This can be accomplished in one of the following manners: • A student selects two, year-long electives OR • A student selects one year-long elective and an exploration wheel (changes quarterly) OR 3. A student selects two exploration wheel electives (changes quarterly)

  4. Reading Intervention • You will not be notified if you are in reading intervention until summer • Reading intervention is 2 class periods, and therefore, you will not be placed in electives if you have reading intervention

  11. Registration Timeline & Tips Due Date: Friday, January 24th Sign up BY DEADLINE DATE!!!!!!! CHOOSE CAREFULLY & WISELY!!!!

  12. No Computer Access? • Use the computer in the library before school, or during lunch • Jan. 23- You can register with me in the library. I will call you out of class to do this if I see you have no registered. • I WILL FIND YOU!

  13. How do I See my Guidance Counselor? • Find me at lunch 4a and sometimes 4c • Ask your teacher for a pass to come and see me • Come and see me before or after school • Email me letting me know you want to talk to me.

  16. Why worry about your grades? • To avoid summer school • To maintain eligibility for sports • To maintain eligibility for clubs • To prepare for high school • Because it is a competitive world • Because you should want to do what you are capable of doing

  17. Keep the Following in Mind… • Definition of Prerequisite: the class that must be completed in order to take another specific class EXAMPLE: In order to take Band 7, a student must take Band 6. Therefore Band 6 is a prerequisite. However, this does not pertain to your exploration wheels!

  18. Challenge Classes In order to qualify for a Challenge class, the following items are taken into consideration: • MAP Scores • Gates Reading scores • Semester Grades • Teacher recommendation * If you are currently a student in 6th grade challenge math, you will remain in challenge as long as you have at least a B semester average for both semesters.

  19. SCHEDULE CHANGES No changes to schedules will be made except for the following reasons/situations: • Computer Error • Drop a class to add a Guided Study Hall • Drop a Guided Study Hall for a class • Recently accepted into special program (ex. Reading) • Failed a prerequisite course • IEP change • CC classes remain the same all three years
