  5. To Be Competitive You Should Consider: • Minimum Total GPA of 3.0 • For UC’s, Private & Impacted CSU’s • Impacted Schools: All CSU’s but 5 are impacted! • You must CHALLENGE yourself each year!!!!

SAT & ACT Dates • SAT – March 9th, May 4th, and June 1st • Must register EARLY - www.sat.org/register • ACT – Feb. 9th, April 13th, and June 8th • Register EARLY - www.actstudent.org • Career Center for more information • Great News! Linden HS is hoping to be a testing site for both the March and May tests! Stay tuned…

  13. Summer School • Computer based online program-Cyber High • Classes will take place at LHS • June 4th – June 28th • Limited transportation provided • More Information to follow…Stay Tuned • Pass your classes the first time and you won’t have to worry about this!

Due Date • All Course Selection Sheets are to be signed by parents and student! • Signed sheets need to be returned Friday, February 1st, 2019. • You will need your Student Portal Username & Password to register for your classes. • If you don’t return your signed sheet on Friday, you will not register!

  15. ASVAB • Thursday, February 7th from 8:05 am – 11:49 am in the West Gym…(you will miss periods 3, 4 & 5) • This is not a mandatory test – BUT it is VERY HELPFUL for future career choices…

  16. Smarter Balanced Assessment • Smarter Balanced = SBAC = CAASPP • It is a computer based adaptive test • Tests 11th graders only • Testing will begin in late March 2019 • The EAP (Early Assessment Program for CSU’s) is built into the Smarter Balanced Assessment • Purpose: Determine College Readiness in English and Mathematics

Smarter Balanced Assessment-Continued • It is VERY important that you participate in the Smarter Balanced Assessment and take it seriously • CSU’s and Community Colleges will look at your results to determine course level placement in Math and English. • LHS is evaluated based upon overall student improvement – which helps YOU!

Counselor’s Advice….. • Ask for help early….don’t wait!!! • Complete your work and turn it in on time! • Study for tests – Don’t cram the night before! • COMMUNICATE!!!!! • Success Shop – Monday, Tuesday & Thursday, 3:15pm – 4:30pm in the Library • Success Shop - Wednesday & Friday, 7:15am – 8:00am • Wednesdays & Thursdays – Math Tutor • Access Portal – check regularly
