  2. Korte introductie Life Courses in Context Een NWO-groot aanvraag, Twee onderdelen: • Life Courses: Historische Steekproef Nederlandse bevolking (HSN bij IISG) • Context: Digitalisering Nederlandse Volkstellingen 1795 – 1971 (NIWI - CBS)

Doel van Life Courses in Context ‘…to develop a collaboratory for the study of 19th and 20th century population history.’ Door een combinatie van data uit de HSN en Volkstellingen: • HSN: Micro data + 40,000 individuele levenslopen • Volkstellingen: geaggregeerde data uit de gepubliceerde Volkstellingen

Digitalisering Nederlandse Volkstelling: 1997 – present • 1997 - 1999: • Scanning 200 boeken, 42.500 pagina’s • Data-entry Volkstelling 1899 • 2002 - maart 2004: • Controle en correctie data-entry volkstellingen 1795-1859 and 1930 • Digitale archivering Volkstellingen 1960 and 1971 • Maart 2003 – juli 2006 (Life Courses in Context): • Data-entry Volkstellingen 1869-1956, excl. 1899 en 1930 • Documentatie, harmonisatie, toegang en onderzoek

Stand van zaken • Website sinds eind 2004: • Bezoek website in 2005: • 35.000 unieke bezoekers, totaal 47.000 bezoeken • 326.000 geraadpleegde pagina’s • 70 GB datastromen • Eind 2004: web-enquete -> bijdrage Anouk de Rijk • Excel files op website: • Werkbestanden! • Documentatie op website: • Basis documentatie aanwezig, wordt nog uitgebreid • Ontsluiting bronimages via website: • Ok! • Doorzoekbare PDF bestanden van alle publicaties: • Inleidingen nu a gedeeltelijk, rest komt • On-site analyse microdata 1960 en 1971: • Bijdrage Jan Jonker

Doelstellingen komende 5 maanden • Controle & correctie Data-entry: • Allerbelangrijkste doelstelling! • Harmonisatie & documentatie van variabelen: • HISCO voor beroepen • Harmonisatie gemeenten in samenwerking met HGIN project (Onno Boonstra) • Harmonisatie religies • CBS StatLine: • Werk in uitvoering, komt waarschijnlijk niet in huidige project af. CBS onderzoekt mogelijkheden • Beperkte Engelstalige website • Collaboratory workspace • Bijdrage Margriet de Rooij • Archivering data
