What to teach? • What places, themes and issues will you include in ‘your’ curriculum? • What makes something geographically ‘significant’? • The scale? • Geographical extent/number affected? • If it is new? Enduring? Threatened? • Its importance for the future? Who’s future? • Its typicality? Uniqueness? Fragility? • Significance to you? Your learners? The world?

  6. How are our lives connected to Africa? Why is the UK’s population changing? What difference can we make to climate? Do we have equal rights to resources? Will the 2012 Games help regenerate east London? A good question: Captures the interest and imagination of pupils Brings an aspect of geographical thinking or investigating to the forefront of the mind Results in tangible, lively, substantial, enjoyable ‘outcome activities’ Enquiry questions
