  1. The Effects Of Energy Drinks By Gerardo Pena and hector

  2. Ingridients and what they cause • Caffeine: causes high blood pressure and may lead to a heart. • Sodium: leads to hypertension and high blood pressure. • Sugar: Is the prime cause of heart attacks. • Taurine: Causes congestive heart failure otherwise known as breathing problems.

  3. Energy Drinks in Sports! • "If you're in sports, and drink energy drinks you have a stimulant (caffeine) on board, you have an increase in your heart rate, an increase in physical activity, which increases your heart rate (even more), then you become dehydrated, which lowers blood pressure, which increases your heart rate...there could be some problems there,“ • So it’s a bad idea to drink energy drinks if you are into sports • Taurine: Causes congestive heart failure otherwise known as breathing problems.

  4. Energy drinks mixed with alcohol • Study has shown that their ability of actually counteracting the effects is illusory. People mixing alcohol and energy drinks have the impression that their skills are relatively unimpaired but in reality they are equally impaired

  5. The Reality • Most energy drinks labels on a popular 24-oz energy drink says it contains 1,000-mg of taurine and 2,500-mg of a caffeine and guarana-containing "energy blend" per serving.  That's essentially 3,500-mg of caffeine in a single serving.  However, just one can of the drink contains three servings--so by drinking one can, you're actually consuming 10,500-mg of caffeine!

  6. Advertising ? • Energy drink companies target mainly teenagers • They also sponsor extreme sports • They try to make it look cool to drink energy drinks

  7. conclusion • Youshouldn’t drink energy drinks • Never mix energy drinks and alcohol • Energy drinks are bad for sports • Be aware of the what you are consuming
