Cooperation in EU projects • Participating in 419 project in 2012 • 117 projects within the 6th Framework Programme and • 135 projects within 7th Framework Programme until now (in the amount of 20 mio Euros for UL) • 1 ERC Starting Grant (Faculty of Mathematics and Physics), 1 Associated Agreement for ERC Starting Grant (with Medical Research Council, UK) and one of UL professors got ERC Advanced Grant at other host organisation • 41 TEMPUS projects(in the last five years) • More than 309 project financed by other EU programmes: COST, EUREKA, LLP, CIP, DAPHNE, LIFE+, Health, Safer Internet Plus, etc. in 2012 of which • 82 projects financed by Structural Funds (RDF, ESF, Transnational Cooperation,.. ) in 2012 • 7 Competence Centres • 8 Centres of Excellence (2 UL coordinator, 6 as a partner)

Centres of Excellence77,5 millions EUR were granted, 85% from European Regional Development Fund THE UNIVERSITY OF LJUBLJANA IS THE COORDINATOR OF TWO APPROVED CENTRES OF EXCELLENCE: • CO BIK: Centre of Excellence for Biosensorics, Instrumentation and Process Control (Faculty of Economics, Faculty of Electrical Engineering • CO SPACE.SI – Space: Science and Technologies Centre of Excellence (Faculty of Natural Sciences and Engineering, Faculty of Electrical Engineering, Faculty of Mathematics and Physics)In addition to the above, four other centres of excellence received approval, all including the University of Ljubljana as a partner: • CO NIN – Centre of Excellence for Nanoscience and Nanotechnology • CO CIPKeBiP – Centre of Excellence for Integrated Approaches in Chemistry and Protein Biology • CO NOT – Centre of Excellence for Low-Carbon Technologies • CO NAMASTE – Centre of Excellence for Advanced Non-Metallic Materials with Technologies of the Future • CO POLIMAT – Centre of Excellence for Polymeric Materials and Technologies • CO EN-FIST – NMR – Centre of Excellence for Research in Biotechnology, Pharmacy and the Physics of Matter

Protection of IPR and TTO • University of Ljubljana officially started the protection of IRP at the beginning of 2007. • From 2007 to the end of 2012 researchers submitted more than 60 inventions to the university. • University of Ljubljana has 43 valid national patents and 5 international patents. • University signed 9 licenced contracts from 2007.
