What parents need to know about volunteering • Always Welcome Volunteers- Ask Us • Volunteers are what makes this program work • Be part of the solution • Ways to Volunteer • Attend Board Meetings and/or become an Officer • Coach/Asst Coach • Team Parent • Score Keeping/Pitch Counts • Be Involved
Things all volunteers need to do Background Checks Attend Appropriate Clinics Coaches Meeting and Clinic April 13 or 14 TBD Umpires Clinic- April 2-May 9 (tues & thurs) Board Meetings- Every 2nd Tuesday at clubhouse Scorekeeping/ Pitch count Clinic- TBD • Anyone with contact with children needs a background check performed by CYBLL by filling out Volunteer Application (see table) • Copy of drivers license (We can take a picture of your license and print it)
Zero tolerance policy Respect the people who are volunteering their time Let the coaches coach Enjoy watching your child’s game Do not heckle the players, umpires or coaches Be adults!!! Please remember you are setting examples for the children around you • We have added new education opportunities for umpires. • Umpires- they are kids who are learning. Verbal insults will not be tolerated. You will be asked to leave. • Please be Respectful • For the kids. Its more than winning a game
Support your team Easiest way to do this is to support your coach and reinforce their rules Be on time for practices and attendance Be on time game day and attendance Some coaches may require players to be early for games, support their rules as much as possible (Ask for help) Volunteer Opportunities – ASK!! COMMUNICATION!!!!! Offer Help (background check required)
Mandatory PLay • Every player who shows up for a game is required to bat once and have 6 consecutive outs on the field.( Pg.41, reg 4: Players, Rule Book) • Only exception to this rule is during tournament and there are 13 players or more on a team, then only 1 bat is required and no field play is required • That being said, please make sure your player is at practices. (coaches and team parents will help get them there if you need help, just ask) • Coaches reserve the right to use non-play as a discipline measure but will inform parents prior to game. Player will still need to be present to support their team (coach will notify board prior to game)
Equipment Bat and helmet Rules • Helmets • must meet the NOCSAE standard and stamped • Bats must be USABat stamped • Littleleague.org/batinfo • You can find a list of approved bats and specific information • No USABat stamp -do not buy it (exception seniors- see bat rules)
Community • These fields belong to the community and we need to take pride in them • Please respect the grounds. Throw your trash into the bins, not on the ground • Please leave your pets at home • Report any problems to a board member immediately • Keep children off of equipment (i.e batting cages and fences) • Please take care of facilities when using them • Put equipment away and offer to help • No seed spitting (City Rule)
Registration • Today we will take registrations- see walk up table • Can be done online at cybaseball.com (opened today) • Walk ups • Feb 2nd @ bushwells 10-3pm • Feb 23th @ Play it again sports 10-3pm • March 16th @ dicks 10-3pm • March 23rd @ Bushwells 10-3pm • April 1st ends-11:45pm • April 6th absolute last chance 9 • $20 late fee added –Dicks 10-3pm
Scholarships • Available by emailing cybaseball14@gmail.com • Visit cybaseball.com for instructions • Case by case basis • Limited number of full and partial scholarships • Scholarships will include extra fundraising obligations
Fundraising • Fundraising- Home Run Cards • Every player will be given 5 homerun cards to sell as a fundraiser. • The cards will sell for $20 each. • Incentives- Top two fundraisers will win: 1st place- $100 gift card to sporting goods store of choice 2nd place-$50 gift card to sporting goods store of choice
Community Impact nights • Community Impact nights • Mom & dad get the night off from cooking dinner. Allstars-announced June 1 • Minors & Majors- • District July 15-20 in Laramie • State July 24-27 in Torrington • Seniors (only 13&14 year olds)- • Early July • We could be hosting this tournament- tbd February -AllStars is a BIG COMMITMENT -Practices will be plentiful and required -Travel to Laramie for District is required
