Bryn Mawr Leadership Orientation Workshop
Objectives • To foster collaboration and networking between student leaders. • To build on the skills that you have already developed as club leaders.
BLingo • Find another student in the workshop that is doing an activity on the sheet. You have to find out how they are doing the event, what they are doing for the event, or ask a follow up question that will give you a better sense of what that club is doing . • This is like Bingo, meaning that you can only have one group listed per square. • If you win BLingo, you get a surPRIZZZZZZEEEE!!!
Leadership Stories Activity • Think of a short story describing your path to the leadership position you now hold. The story should have a beginning, middle, and end. Don't analyze the experience. Just tell what happened. • Share your stories with your group mates. One person is the storyteller, one is the interviewer (only questions). Be sure to listen intently to the speaker and give feedback at the end of the story.
Leadership Stories Activity Interviewer's questions to ask: • What was the most challenging aspect of your path to this role? • How did you handle the challenge? • When did you feel most alive and engaged in the work? • What have you learned in this work or on your path doing this work? • How has your learning transferred into other parts of your life? Questions to consider when giving feedback: • What is one strength or capacity from the speaker's story? • How is it expressed through the speaker's perceptions, decisions, or actions? • What aspects of the story might be helpful in motivating and inspiring others?
