  4. What is space exploration? • ongoing discovery and exploration of celestial structures. • study of space.

  7. 1960s • April 12 1961-first human in space • March 18 1965-first spacewalk • July 20 1969-first manned moon landing

  8. 1970s • July 30 1971-first rover on the moon • July 20 1976-first U.S mars landing

  9. 1980s • April 12 1981-first space shuttle launch • June 18 1983-first american women in space

  10. 1990s • April 25 1990-hubble space telescope deployed

  11. 2000s • February 1 2003-loss of space shuttle columbia • January 14 2005-first landing on other world's moon • July 26 2005- first space launch after columbia disaster

  13. Humans may one day tread across some of the alien worlds that today can be studied only at a distance. • They will study more about the space.
