NBHD Authority • The NBHD serves the communities Manzanita, Nehalem, Wheeler, and the surrounding unincorporated areas. • It is current responsible for: • Serving as the Board and owner of the Nehalem Valley Care Center • Managing the District’s 3.2 acre property and tenants (including the Rinehart Clinic and the tenants in the former Wheeler Hospital – including the North County Food Pantry and offices for health and wellness professionals) • The NBHD is also authorized by Oregon law to: • Provide and promote physical and mental health related direct services • Provide health related outreach programs, research, and patient care • Participate in community sponsored health screening, prevention, wellness, improvement or other activities that address the physical or mental health needs of district residents • Serve as a resource for health care providers in the district • Develop business arrangements for the purpose of health care delivery systems and managed care plans
Demographic Highlights: Population Growth Estimates • 2000-2010 Growth • Tillamook County did not experience significant growth • The cities of Nehalem & Manzanita, posted average annual growth rates 2.5 & 1.5 % • Future growth • A result of in-migration • Nehalem & Manzanita will continue to grow in numbers in the short and long run • Nehalem & Manzanita will grow in proportion to the County Population Research Center at Portland State University
Housing Stock & Residential Status • Approximately 3407 improved residential properties (manufactured homes and condos included) • 2246 of those have out-of-county mailing addresses • 1161 in-county mailing addresses • Tillamook County Tax Assessor
