  3. Hearing that John had been arrested Jesus went back to Galilee, Khiấy, nghe tin Gioanbịnộp, ChúaGiêsuluivềGalilêa.

  4. and leaving Nazareth he went and settled in Capernaum, a lakeside town on the borders of Zebulun and Naphtali. Người rời bỏ thành Nadarét, đến ở miền duyên hải, thành Capharnaum, giáp ranh đất Giabulon và Nepthali,

  5. để ứng nghiệm lời đã phán bởi miệng tiên tri Isaia rằng: In this way the prophecy of Isaiah was to be fulfilled:

  6. Land of Zebulun! Land of Naphtali! Way of the sea on the far side of Jordan, Galilee of the nations! "Hỡi đất Giabulon và đất Nepthali, đường dọc theo biển, bên kia sông Giođan, Galilêa của ngoại bang!

  7. The people that lived in darkness has seen a great light; on those who dwell in the land and shadow of death a light has dawned. Dân ngồi trong tối tăm đã thấy ánh sáng huy hoàng; ánh sáng đã xuất hiện cho người ngồi trong bóng sự chết".

  8. From that moment Jesus began his preaching with the message, ‘Repent, for the kingdom of heaven is close at hand. Từ bấy giờ, Chúa Giêsu bắt đầu rao giảng và nói: "Hãy hối cải, vì nước trời đã gần đến!"

  9. As he was walking by the Sea of Galilee he saw two brothers, Simon, who was called Peter, and his brother Andrew; Nhân lúc Chúa Giêsu đi dọc theo bờ biển Galilêa, Người thấy hai anh em là Simon, cũng gọi là Phêrô, và Anrê,

  10. they were making a cast in the lake with their net, for they were fishermen cả hai đang thả lưới dưới biển, vì hai ông là ngư phủ.

  11. And he said to them, ‘Follow me and I will make you fishers of men.’ Người bảo hai ông rằng: "Các ngươi hãy theo Ta, Ta sẽ làm cho các ngươi trở thành những ngư phủ lưới người ta".

  12. And they left their nets at once and followed him. Lập tức hai ông bỏ lưới đó mà theo Người.

  13. Going on from there he saw another pair of brothers, James son of Zebedee and his brother John; they were in their boat with their father Zebedee, mending their nets, and he called them. Ði xa hơn một đỗi, Người lại thấy hai anh em khác là Giacôbê con ông Giêbêđê, và Gioan em ông đang vá lưới trong thuyền với cha là Giêbêđê. Người cũng gọi hai ông. 

  14. At once, leaving the boat and their father, they followed him. Lập tức hai ông bỏ lưới và cha mình mà đi theo Người.

  15. He went round the whole of Galilee teaching in their synagogues, proclaiming the Good News of the kingdom and curing all kinds of diseases and sickness among the people… Và Chúa Giêsu đi rảo quanh khắp xứ Galilêa, dạy dỗ trong các hội đường của họ, rao giảng tin mừng nước trời, chữa lành mọi bệnh hoạn tật nguyền trong dân…
