  1. Welcome Back Or Welcome New Students

  2. This course is call Analytic Geometry it is basically a review of many of the ideas that you have seen in the second semester of Alg II or Alg II honors. For example we will examine functions, parent functions, translations, exponential and Log functions, the conics, and parametric equations (new).

  3. Grading (for the new students) Your grade in my class will be determined as follows: 80% Test and Quizzes. Usually one quiz a week and one test every two weeks. 20% Homework and Class work. Homework will be given daily and checked the next day. I DO NOT ACCEPT LATE HOMEWORK.

  4. Notes will be given by PowerPoint presentations I also put all of my notes on my webpage. Additionally all homework and class work assignments will be included on my webpage. Grades are updated weekly via EdLine. Website http://freedom.mysdhc.org/Teacher/1541hart/

  5. 1st Semester Results Mid-Term Averages: 5th - 65.1 6th – 56.9 7th – 65.0 District Average: 59.2 School Average: 60.6

  6. Notes on Functions, P3, pg 23. Cartesian Plane Everyone should be able to plot points.

  7. Common Formulas The distance formula, finds the distance between two points. The midpoint formula, finds the midpoint between two points.

  8. Everyone should know what the x and y intercepts are and how to find them. X intercept where a graphs crosses the x axis, can be found by plugging y = 0 into and equation. Y intercept, where a graphs crosses the y axis, can be found by plugging x = 0 into the equation.

  9. Symmetry Graphs can be symmetric to the x or y axis or the origin. Graphs that are symmetric to the y axis are called EVEN, graphs that are symmetric to the origin are called ODD. This shouldn’t be the first time you are hearing those terms, or any of these terms.

  10. Algebraic def of even and odd. A graph is even if f(-x) = f(x) Ex. F(x) = x2 A graph is odd if f(-x) = - f(x) Ex. F(x) = x3

  11. HW pg 36 1-3, 9-11, 19, 24, 26-28, 43-45 MY homework shouldn’t take you more than 30-40 mins every night if it takes you longer than that you are doing something wrong.
