IYCF E:Training plans • 5 ToT trainings to reach all nutrition SAM projects • Phased trainings: Train Nutrition Officers who train IYCF counselors (CHV/CHW etc). • 30th April,1st and 2nd May participants: MoH ,Concern, AFOD, SCI, Checdag, MACDA, Johanniter, ACF-USA,IRC,IMC and Plan International. • 6th , 7th and 8th May: training IYCF counselors from these partners • First training : criteria of participating partners: Intervention areas. PoC Priority, IDPs, RRM partners, convergence of people

  2. What is the International code on BMS • promote breastfeeding and overcome problems that may discourage breastfeeding • Why: breast feeding is unequalled way of infant feeding. Forms unique biological and emotional basis for the health of mother and child. • When child is introduced to formula/other foods, they suckle less thus less breast milk production. Demand = supply • Babies struggle to digest formula. Not perfect food for baby, hurts the gut. • Easy for HIV virus to pass through gut than for EBF baby.

The International Code of Marketing of BMS Code prohibits violations in terms of: • Advertisement of BMS • Commercial promotion in health facility • Company contact with mothers • Donation of product to health facility include teats and bottles • Free samples • Gift to mothers • Gift to health workers • Inadequate labeling • Promotion in shops and sponsorship.
