  4. Notes • Babylonian empire reaches its height • Assyrian empire extends from the Persian Gulf through Egypt • Medes and Chaldean destroy Assyrian • New Babylonian empire falls, but the city of Babylon is spared

  5. Section 2 Review • Who was Nebuchadnezzar II? Chaldean king who rebuilt the city of Babylon and declared himself king • Why did civilizations rise and fall in Mesopotamia? Conflict, conquest, and reorganization of power and wealth • How did Babylon become rich? Trade and conquests of other cities • What accomplishments is Assyria known for? Center of learning and skilled at war

Time Lines • Draw a time line for recording events from 1760 B.C. to 540 B.C • Mark time line every ½ inch to represent time intervals of 100 years • Create 7 captions and 3 pictures for events that highlight the conquests and cultural achievements of Babylonia and Assyria in the reading of Section 2 • Must have color!!!
