WHY • To honor • To celebrate • To learn by doing • To give opportunity to learn event planning • For troop bounding
YOUR JOB • To help SIC plan a successful event • Serve as a bridge between Scouts and CM & SM • Attend CM meeting 3 months before event • Attend PLC meeting 3 months before event • DO NOT deprive your boys from opportunity to learn
KEY to SUCCESS • Start early • Let boys lead, but help them plan • Get everyone involved • Have fun planning • Make friends
Planning The Event • Before events • Attend CM (2nd Wed., Miller) • Attend PLC (4th Wed., Miller) • Motivate & Assist SIC • After events • Finance Report
Attend CM • To coordinate works with all Committee functions. • 3 month before event – attend all CM • 1st CM – secure date/time/place, get info • 2nd CM – report planning status/budget proposal, coordinate CM helps. • 3rd CM – Give planning detail, tie loose ends, solicit helps, and promote attendance.
Committee Functions • Attend CM: work with Committee Chairs (P&M) • Expense Report: work with Finance Chair (Peggy) • Coordinate Facility Reservation: work with Events Committee (Iris) • Food & Decoration: work with Event Committee • Confirm Patches and Certificates: work with Award Committee (ChowChin) • Assist SIC for COH agenda: work with SM (Harvey) • Assist SIC for Party Program Development (year end party)
Assist SIC • Boys Plan & Execute – Let them do it! • Your job is to oversee that event happen as planned. • To answer questions and help solve problems • To encourage and to support • Report status/issues to CM, solicit help from CM • Don’t deprive them opportunity to learn!
Event Day • Arrive early • Coordinate parents’ work • Be clear on what’s parents jobs and what’s boys’ jobs
After Event • Within a week, give finance report to Finance Chair • Give encourage/feedback to your SIC • Postmortem
