Definition • Definition means to define or to give meaning. • [D]efinition • [D]I haven’t heard that word before. What is ______? • [D]What does ______ mean?
The Deaf Shopkeeper Game • What does deaf mean? • Deaf means you can’t hear. • Half of the class will be Shopkeepers and the other half will be shoppers. • Shopkeepers are selling one item. • Shoppers are shopping for three items. • Deaf Shopkeepers will sit around the room, spread out, and will not move during the activity. • Shoppers will move from one Deaf Shopkeeper to the next trying to find the items on their list.
How to Play • Shoppers must ask for the items on their list to the Deaf Shopkeepers. • The Shopkeepers are old and hard of hearing will have to ask 5 questions before understanding. • Shoppers might say something like: • Hi, I’m looking for some ___________. Do you have any? • I would like to buy some __________. Can you help me? • The Deaf Shopkeepers must respond with a question: • Please speak up! My hearing is not so good anymore. • Can you please say that again? • Did you say _______? • I don’t know that word, what is _______?

Homework • The five love languages quiz (pass papers out) • You must choose one of the two options for every number. Circle the letter of the sentence you feel is most like you. • Next week you must bring this paper to class fully filled out. I will tell you what the letters mean next class. • YOU MUST HAVE THE PAPER FILLED OUT BEFORE THE BELL RINGS FOR CLASS TO START NEXT WEEK • If you forget your paper or do not fill out the paper you will be given a zero for a homework grade.
