  2. Alcohol’s History • Alcohol has been a “stress reliever” for most people. It started in the early 1920’s when prohibition came into the United Sates banning Alcohol. Crime rates increased, and people were selling alcohol illegally. After years of the people raging, and complaining the use of alcohol. The government finally decided to give in, and made the 21st amendment. Saying that Alcohol can be used legally for the right reasons. It has also helped the economy, and has become a successful marketing business. But as it is a popular drink globally. It has given a bad name for abusers. Also kids who drink it under the age. But it can also be healthy treat such as red, and white wine. But then again abusing the this will get you harmed, or can cause death. It’s used for what we call “down in the dumps”, but the people can resist the let loose feeling that alcohol brings to people.

Types of Alcohol • Wine- are made from a variety of fruits, such as grapes • Beer-A liquidmix, called wort, is prepared by combining yeast • Rum- is a distilled beverage made from fermentedmolasses or sugarcane • Vodka-clear liquid containing water and ethanol purified by distillation • Whiskey- is made by distilling the fermented juice of cereal grains • Brandy-is distilled from fermented fruit juices • Gin- is a combination of alcohol,water and various flavors

  4. Effects Of Alcohol • The effects of Alcohol range from possible health benefits for low levels of alcohol ethanol consumption to severe detrimental effects in cases of chronic alcohol abuse. There is a strong correlation between 'high levels' of alcohol consumption and an increased risk of developing alcoholism. Some experts argue that the benefits of moderate alcohol consumption may be outweighed by other increased risks, including those of injuries, violence, and certain cancers.

Statistics On Alcohol • Alcohol is involved in 50% of all driving fatalities. • Americans spend over $90 billion dollars total on alcohol each year. • Up to 40% of all industrial fatalities and 47% of industrial injuries can be linked to alcohol consumption and alcoholism. • Four in ten criminal offenders report alcohol as a factor in violence. • 56% of students in grade 5 to 12 say that alcohol advertising encourages them to drink. • The highest percentage of heavy drinkers (12.2%) is found among unemployed adults between the age of 26 to 34 • An average American may consume over 25 gallons of beer, 2 gallons of wine, and 1.5 gallons of distilled spirits each year. • Alcohol is the number 1 drug problem in America.
