This is Our Heritage Aims: • Help community heritage groups develop Interpretation Plans • Link plans to the over-arching theme: ‘Wales the first industrial nation…created by genius, moulded from the land, crafted by many hands’ • Establish a ‘network’ of community heritage interpretation projects
Activities & Results • Over 70 individuals attending workshops • 22 community groups developing heritage interpretation plans • 18 plans complete and seeking funding or being implemented

Green Network • Aims to improve the urban environment for community recreational use, to increase the biodiversity interest, and to involve the local communities. • Successful strong partnership of statutory and community sectors • Green Network as a partnership has secured in excess of £1.5million pounds of grant funding in the last three years • Genwen Quarry is a site that has been identified by the partnership for regeneration
Genwen Quarry • Situated in the village of Bynea, south east of Llanelli • Site of mining & quarrying operations • Cornish Beam End Pumping House • Site that has become a tipping ground and has the serious issues with Japanese Knotweed
Genwen Quarry • A feasibility study was undertaken March 2004 by Wardell Armstrong • A master plan for the landscape regeneration produced
Genwen Quarry • With Herian support the Green Network Partnership has researched and produced a Local Interpretation Plan of the site • With the help of Local Historical Groups • Historical Reference Books • Helped to secure funding • Lead to group winning the Media4Award
