  1. NM USER FORUM 2014 Free Route and Airspace Improvements Razvan BUCUROIU Head of Operations Planning 30/01/2014

  2. Flight efficiency evolution Progress on flight efficiency achievements Target 2013: +4.4% Target 2013: +2.85% • Airspace Design – excellent progress – on a good track to achieve 2014 RP1 target • Airspace utilisation aspects – decreasing trend, but far from target • Flight planning • Enhancements to the RAD, time applicability of the RAD • Enhanced utilisation of CDRs • Capacity impacts – industrial actions, system failures (0.03-0.04 percentage points lost)

  3. Flight efficiency evolution 2013 Progress on flight efficiency achievements

  4. RP1 Focus on NM Flight Efficiency Initiative Progress on flight efficiency achievements Current situation Last filed FPL Current network potential There is a potential of up to 0.6 percentage points improvement through better flight planning

  5. Second Reference Period 2019 European Targets • Actual trajectory (KEA) • average 2.6% route extension decreasing from 3.17% in 2012 • Last filed flight plan trajectory (KEP) • average 4.1% route extension decreasing from 5.15% in 2012

  6. Second Reference Period 2019 NM Targets • Route extension - airspace design - DES • improvement of the DES indicator by 0.57 between 2012 and 2019 • NM direct contributions to flight efficiency savings • FE direct savings will amount to • - 10% (2015-2016) • - 5% (2017-2019) • Increase the CDR1/2 usage • Increase CDR availability and usage by 5% between 2012 and 2019

  7. ERNIP - ARN Version 2014-2018/19 Airspace Vision for RP2 • Comprehensive cross-border implementation of Free Route Airspace in Europe • at least above FL310, in the European airspace • RP1 target expected to be met • Cross border FRA in FABs included in most FABs roadmaps • Optimised route structure below FL310 • ensuring efficient connectivity in/out terminal airspace • supporting PBN implementation • Simplification of RAD • Very limited RAD in SE and Northern Europe • Moving towards a European RAD • Harmonised airspace publications; • More efficient Flexible Use of Airspace procedures and system support • Closer cooperation NM - airspace users - computer flight plan service providers

  8. Implementing the Vision European ATS Route Network Improvement Plan 2014-2018/19 • 450 Airspace Improvement Packages • 80 FRA projects • 50 AO airspace packages • 100 Network Manager packages

  20. Focus on NM Flight Efficiency Initiative • Close cooperation with the airspace users • Coordination started with some individual airlines • Shortly will be able to provide support to any airline • Ensuring closer coordination on evolutions with the CFPSPs • At network and local level • Strategic identification of enhanced flight planning options • Pre-tactical-Tactical-Post Ops • Deploying flight efficiency actions in the NMOC • More effective utilisation of CDRs – ASM solutions • Direct support to AOs • More awareness at AOs Users Groups • NM User Forum
