Joyful Mystery(prayed on Monday & Saturday) • Annunciation • The angel Gabriel announces to Mary that she is going to be the Mother of God. • Visitation • Elizabeth greets Mary when she visits. • The Nativity • Mary gives birth to the baby Jesus. • The Presentation • Mary presents the child Jesus at the temple. • The Finding in the Temple • The Blessed Mother finds Jesus in the temple.
Sorrowful Mystery(Prayed on Tuesday & Friday) • Agony in the Garden • At Gethsemane, Jesus prays for the sins of the world. • The Scourging • Jesus is cruelly beaten. • Crowning with Thorns • A crown of thorns is placed on the head of Jesus. • Carrying the Cross • Jesus carries the cross to Calvary. • Crucifixion • Jesus is nailed to the cross and dies after 3 hours of agony.
Glorious Mystery(Prayed on Sunday & Wednesday) • Resurrection (Easter) • Jesus rises three days after His death. • The Ascension (40 days after Easter) • Jesus rises into Heaven. • Decent of the Holy Spirit (Pentecost) • The Holy Spirit comes down to Mary and the apostles in the forms of tongues of fire. • Assumption • Mary goes up to heaven body and soul. • Coronation • Mary is announced queen of heaven and earth.
Luminous Mystery(Prayed on Thursday) • Baptism of Jesus • Jesus came from Galilee to be baptized by John. • Wedding Feast of Cana • Jesus changes the water into wine at the wedding • Announcement of the Kingdom • Jesus preaches the Good News about the Kingdom of God, conversion, and forgiveness of sins • Transfiguration • Jesus changes into the Holy Spirit in front of the Apostles. • First Eucharist (Holy Thursday) • Jesus changes the bread and wine into His Body and Blood.
