Directions • Preheat oven to 250 degrees F. • Pop popcorn and place in 1 large bowl. • Melt butter in a medium saucepan (medium heat) • Stir in brown sugar, corn syrup and salt. Bring to a boil, stirring for 4 minutes. Be very careful not to BURN it. • Remove from heat and stir in soda and vanilla. • Pour a thin stream over popcorn, stirring to coat. • Line cookie sheet with foil and spray with cooking spray. Place caramel popcorn on foiled pan and place in oven for 35-45 minutes. Stir every 15 minutes. • Remove from oven and let cool 5 minutes. Break into pieces. You can put this into sandwich baggies to take with you after it’s cooled down. While popcorn is baking, clean and then read chapter 6 in foods book page 76-82. Write the vocabulary words and the definitions as you read. Answer questions 2-9 (not 7) on page 83. Keep these in your notebook.
