Euroguidance Ireland, hosted by NCGE, collects and disseminates information on studying and training opportunities in the EU and EEA member states. They also promote cooperation among stakeholders in guidance and education, provide guidance to European schools, and offer online resources for students.

What is Euroguidance? • Euroguidanceis a network of centres linking together the Careers Guidance systems in Europe promoting educational mobility • There are 64 Euroguidance centres across 35 EU and EEA member countries • Euroguidance Ireland is hosted by NCGE, The National Centre for Guidance in Education, an agency of the Department of Education and Skills
What Euroguidance Ireland does: • Collects, processes and disseminates information on studying and training opportunities in the EU and EEA member states • Disseminates information on European initiatives and programmes in education training and mobility, and highlights examples of innovative working methods and good practice in the field of lifelong guidance • Supports national and international networking of guidance counsellors by organising seminars, training and study visits • Promotes cooperation among different stakeholders in guidance and education • Represents Ireland at Euroguidance meetings in Europe
Guidance to the European Schools • Euroguidance Ireland coordinates the provision of guidance to 13 European Schools throughout the EU • Delivers guidance on site and remotely, depending on needs and resources • Advises on courses in Irish universities and colleges • Provides support on entry requirements for students with European Baccalaureate qualifications
Two of the main projects which Euroguidance Ireland has developed are: • Mobility Guidance Counselling CPD • (Continuing Professional Development) for Guidance Counsellors • and • The EuroQuestprogramme for Transition Years
Euro-Quest Mobility Guidance Counselling The Mobility Guidance Counselling (MGC) project was launched in 2016. It is an online professional development module aimed at providing guidance counsellors with a set of skills they can develop in order to support students in their quest to study abroad.
Euro-Quest • Euro-Quest is an online resource for Transition Year students aimed at: • raising students’ awareness of mobility in education and employment in Europe • providing students with the motivation and the information and tools to research opportunities to study and work abroad • Euro-Quest is: • an inter-curricular collection of websites, suggestions, tips, activities and assignments • intended to reflect the Whole School Guidance approach
Euro-Questcontains 4 modules: 1. An overview of the European Union, EU citizenship, including the right to travel, study and work in other EU member states 2. An exploration of opportunities to study abroad – including Erasmus+, courses taught through English and the funding supports 3. Preparation for a period of learning mobility - understanding culture and diversity, tips for studying abroad and language acquisition 4. Careers Interest Assessment and students do independent research on education options in Europe and present their findings
