Introductory Paragraph Attention-getting sentence: Free, unstructured play is so rare that today’s generation of young people are in danger of developing into adults with significant neurological disadvantages. 3 Main Points1. Free play in childhood promotes brain and cognitive development (Stuart Brown, Play).2. Design thinking, which applies creativity, is promoted by unstructured collaboration and activity in corporations (Tim Brown, Change By Design). 3. Structured childhoods are creating dependent adults (Mr. Chang, Don’t Be Weasels; Be Winners!) Thesis: The recent research on free play, collaborative creativity, and structured childrearing is very significant because they show new and important connections between play and the development of the brain and the proper socialization of people.
