Is it in human nature to dominate? Can one person make a difference? Is one person’s freedom fighter another person’s terrorist? Is fighting ever justified?

  2. WARM-UPWhat’s going on in this image? What do you see that makes you say that?...…what more can you find?

  3. Rules of the Crusade Hearing What I need from you during the Hearing to hold you accountable to the learning community and accountable to the knowledge • Listen to others. Only talk when it is your turn. • Fill out the listening form to help you with your homework. • Be respectful. • Stay in character at ALL times. • Complete all responsibilities as your character testifying (see next slide).

  4. Responsibilities during the Hearing • EACH person will be a… • Speaker: reading your part of the opening statement during the hearing • Question responder: answering at least one question asked of your character • Inquisitor: asking your (five) questions to the other characters

  5. Journal Reflection • Answer ALL of the following questions: • Why did the Crusades happen? • What happened during the Crusades? • Who was in the wrong during the Crusades? Who was in the right during the Crusades? • Were the Crusades justified?

  6. Homework • WRITE a one-page paper answering: • Why did the Crusades happen? • Were they justified?
