What is WHEUPA ? • WHEU Parent Association • Non-profit organization that supports WHEU • Often pronounced “wuppa” • Consists of parent volunteers providing: • Chaperones • Driving truck, pulling trailer, supervising loading of gear • Help with competitions - at West and at away locations • Fundraising • Communications and reminders (incl. weather cancels) • Care and maintenance of uniforms • Many other activities to help manage 270 students

Special Events/Fundraisers • South Bay Invitational • Field Show hosted by WHEU at West High • Christmas Tree Lot, Wreath Sales • After Thanksgiving until all trees are sold at WHS parking lot • Spirit Day • Dance Competition hosted by WHEU at West High • Swap Meet • 4th Saturday of each month at WHS parking lot • Drum Line/Color Guard alternate months as host • Considering addition of mid-month meet hosted by band • Major Trip every few years to Europe or East Coast • Europescheduled for July 2013 • East Coast TBD
Parent Participation Required Major Fundraisers for WHEU: • South Bay Invitational (September 28, 2013) • Tree Lot (November – December, 2013) • Spirit Day (Feb 28, 2014 and March 1, 2014) These events take a large number of people to operate. We need everyone’s help to make these events a success. Parents are expected to sign up for a shift during each of these 3 fundraiser events. Volunteer Spot Online sign-up service used to schedule work shifts • Select your choice of shifts for fundraiser events • Also used to schedule uniform fittings for students
Parent Help Wanted WHEU requires 8 buses, 3 trucks, and one trailer to transport unit to competitions and parades. • Hospitality • Gear and Truck* • Drivers for trucks and trailer • Supervise loading gear on trucks • Help get gear on/off field at field shows • Chaperone Students* • anytime the unit travels • field shows, competitions, parades • Need about 16 chaperones per event • Uniform Fittings* • Home Football Games/snack bar • Cheer our students at games, field shows, parades * requires a completed volunteer form on file
