Instructional Programs Major subjects meet every day of a six day cycle (A, B, C, D, E, F) • English • Social Studies • Math • Life Science • Reading / Study Skills

Course Levels • 6.0 (HP) High Potential • For students who have a solid command of the basic skills • 6.0 (H) Honors • For students who have a strong command of the basic skills • 5.0 Academic • For students who have a good command of the basic skills
Course Selection Process • Feb 3rd -14th • Algebra Prognosis Test • February - Teachers make recommendations • Level 5 – Academic • Level 6H and 6HP – Challenging/More Challenging • Students choose a music class • Orchestra • Exploring Music • Band • Chorus
Course Selection Process • End of March • Course verification sheets sent home with report cards • May 5th-9th • Sixth grade visits to Pennfield • June 13th • Deadline for schedule changes • End of August • Schedules mailed & New Student Orientation
Math Placement Testing • Algebra Prognosis and Geometry Tests are part of the process that identifies students who are ready to accelerate in the North Penn’s math curriculum sequence. The study of Algebra 1 in 7th grade is a two year advancement course. • The results of this testing (with other criteria) will help teachers recommend the appropriate math placement for incoming 7th graders.
Olweus Program The Olweus program is a school wide approach to reduce bullying and ensure that Pennfield is a safe environment for all students to learn. Pennfield implemented this program in January of 2010. The key component to this program is the classroom meeting.
