What is Study Stack • Online flash cards for vocabulary and other important terms, dates, or events • Online games with those same terms, dates, and events • A way for visual learners to connect to the material • Extra practice outside of the classroom
The Pros • It’s free! • No student usernames or passwords are necessary • Each stack has its own link that you will give out to the students or post on a website for them • Many lists are already created by other users for you to utilize • If you have a list of terms already, you can simply copy and paste them into Study Stack
Getting Started • Go to http://www.studystack.com/ • Create an account or use your Facebook account to sign in
Searching for a stack • You can search for stacks that already exist by keyword, textbook, chapter, author, and more.
Creating a Stack • Go to “create new stack”
Creating a New Stack • Set your stack name and preferences
Enter Your Stack Data • You can do this in one of two ways • First, enter your questions with your answers
Enter Your Stack Data • Or scroll below and you can enter a text only list of questions/words and answers • You must choose a delimiter that separates the question from the answer for the program • The default is the # sign, I use the = sign
Enter Your Stack Data • Hit enter for each new question/answer set • When you are finished entering your data, hit import • When you scroll back up, your data will be in the original boxes • Do not forget to hit SAVE!
Using your Stack • Students can print the list of vocabulary or terms • If you checked “generate random fill-in-the-blank clues” upon creating your stack, your students can play games • Give students the link and they can use the stack online or on a variety of smart phones/iPods
Using your Stack • Students can move their flashcards to the correct or incorrect piles in order to practice better • Students can play a variety of games below the cards
The Cons • You have no way of tracking how many students have used the stacks or how often • Some students find the games childish while others love them • Some of the games cannot be played without uploading a picture to represent each word…takes way too long
