  3. Grounded Ephesians 3:17-19 Ephesians 3:17 That Christ may dwell in your hearts by faith; that ye, being rooted and grounded in love,

  4. This world needs more Grounded people • In a world of instability & constant change, the world needs more grounded people • People who do what they say they are going to do • People who step up based on commitment & responsibility instead of “feelings” • Too many “stir fry” people today

  5. Ephesians 3:17-1917 That Christ may dwell in your hearts by faith; that ye, being rooted and grounded in love,18 May be able to comprehend with all saints what is the breadth, and length, and depth, and height;19And to know the love of Christ, which passeth knowledge, that ye might be filled with all the fulness of God.

  6. Some thoughts about being GROUNDED

What does your foundation look like? • Matthew 7:24 Therefore whosoever heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them, I will liken him unto a wise man, which built his house upon a rock: • 25 And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell not: for it was founded upon a rock. • 26 And every one that heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them not, shall be likened unto a foolish man, which built his house upon the sand: 27 And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell: and great was the fall of it Sinking? Cracks? Jacks? Blocks Missing? Footers?

Fruit from the Tree is its GIFT • No Root, No Fruit • Too many people today just want the fruit – Fast LANE • Heb 5:12 … ought to be teachers • If you get the fruit without the root, your gift can take you places that your character can’t keep you • Matt 13:5 Some fell upon stony places, where they had not much earth: and forthwith they sprung up, because they had no deepness of earth: • 6 And when the sun was up, they were scorched; and because they had no root, they withered away.

A good root system is important • Col 2:7 rooted and built up in Him and established in the faith as ye have been taught, abounding therein with thanksgiving. • NLT Let your roots grow down into him, and let your lives be built on him. Then your faith will grow strong in the truth you were taught, and you will overflow with thankfulness.

  10. Being Grounded Means…. • Being Balanced • Knowing how to encourage & admonish • Having Courage • To know you and your limits, not people please • Knowing Your Core Values • What do we get when we get you? • Willing to make the Spiritual Investment of Studying • When is the last time you did a personal deep bible study…still living on what you learned 20 years ago?

Biblical warnings against instability • Eph 4:14 That we henceforth be no more children, tossed to and fro, and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the sleight of men, and cunning craftiness, whereby they lie in wait to deceive; • James 1:6,7 But let him ask in faith, nothing wavering. For he that wavereth is like a wave of the sea driven with the wind and tossed. For let not that man think that he shall receive any thing of the Lord.

Grounded Ephesians 3:17-19 Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor standeth in the way of sinners, nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful. 2 But his delight is in the law of the Lord; and in his law doth he meditate day and night. 3 And he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that bringeth forth his fruit in his season; his leaf also shall not wither; and whatsoever he doeth shall prosper. 4 The ungodly are not so: but are like the chaff which the wind driveth away. Psalm 1:1-4
