  2. Fashion Designers • Fashion Designers design and sketch garments to communicate their ideas to the design team • Design team includes ; pattern makers, sample machinists and buyers

  3. Fashion Illustrators • Give a signature style to the Fashion Designers creation • Their art work may be used for a design presentation, an advertisement, marketing presentation, or a journalistic visual representation representing not only the illustration but the whole concept of the garment

  4. Inspiration • Fashion seeks inspiration everywhere, from the catwalk to the street • Designers have to be continually on the lookout for innovative idea • Haute couture – elaborate, cutting edge fashion • Sources of inspiration come from magazines, Fashion shows and exhibitions, retail shops, and the streets, just about everywhere

  5. Total Look • Accessories are important from shoes, bags, hair, hats, makeup and jewelry • Elements and Principles of design from shape, texture, silhouettes, color, and line all contribute to the total package.

  6. Fashion Proportions • Typical fashion female body is slender, elongated legs, and square shoulders. • Fashion Figures are measured in HEADS, a way to measure body proportions • Female body measure typically 7 – 8 heads • Fashion illustration uses and elongated body ; 9-10 heads • Why? • Most of the extra leg is added to the legs and torso to a lesser extent
