Coastal marshlands protection act staff’s findings and recommendations
o.c.g.a. 12-5-286 (B)(8) requires a discussion of why the permit should be granted

Local Government zoning A letter has been received from the Camden County Department of Building Safety and Regulatory Services stating that the proposed project does not violate any local zoning laws. The letter is not conditioned.
Alternative sites description and feasibility Alternatives for the proposed project were considered by the applicant and the applicant decided this was the most feasible project design and location to achieve the goals of the Boat Ramp and Kayak Dock
Landfill, hazardous waste inquiry Applicant has reviewed the Hazardous Site Index maintained by the Georgia Environmental Protection Division for Camden County, Georgia and stated that there are no landfills or hazardous waste sites near the proposed project locations.
Water quality certification Water quality certification is not required for the proposed project.
Adhere to the Erosion and Sediment Control Responsibilities Applicant has stated their intentions to adhere to building, land disturbing and storm-water management authorization as required by Camden County, Georgia
Notification of proposed Project Adjacent property owners and interested parties who have requested to be placed on the mailing list were notified in writing of the proposed project. The public Notice of the Coastal Marshlands Protection Committee (CMPC) ran from May 24, 2018 to June 7, 2018. No comments were received.
Public interests considerations In passing upon application for permit, the CMPC shall consider the public interest.
Leasing of state owned marshland or water bottoms The proposed project will not require a waterbottoms lease.
Restriction on granting of permits; size restriction; activities and structures considered contrary to the public interest The Wheeler Street Boat Ramp and Waterfront Park Kayak Dock facilities are water –dependent. The project cannot be satisfied by the use of alternative non-marshland sites, as the ramp and dock facilities already exist.
Determining project Boundaries The marshland component of the projects includes the proposed 1,349 square feet of new impacts from the new floating docks at the Kayak Dock and the 2,914 square feet of new impacts from the modification to the Wheeler Street Boat Ramp. The upland component consists of the existing paved boat ramp access and parking area that totals approximately 100 ft. x 130 ft. (13,000 sq. ft.). There are no changes proposed to the existing upland component.
