Student ID card • Student MUST wear their ID at ALL times. • If students have forgotten their ID, they will need to get a temporary ID from front office for a fee of $1. • If student has lost their ID, they must purchase a replacement ID for $5.
Are You Interested in Attending an HBCU? (Historically Black College & University) The National College Resource Foundation is hosting their annual Black College Expo, Saturday, 10/27/18, 10 am – 3 pm. 50 + Colleges/Universities will be in attendance.(Spellman, Morehouse, Grambling, Southern, Fisk, FAMU, Howard, Hampton, Wiley, TSU, Prairie View A&M, and more.) Seniors will need to bring copies of their high school/LSC transcripts, ACT/SAT scores, and letters of recommendation. Juniors will need to bring copies of their high school/LSC transcripts, and letters of recommendation, Admission will be $7 per student if we have 15 or more students sign up to attend. 11th and 12th grade students interested in attending need to sign up with their AVID teacher by 10/9/18. THIS WILL BE A GREAT EVENT, DON’T MISS OUT!!!!

Week 4 Oct. 29th-31st Monday-Pajama Day Tuesday-Pink Lemonade Day (given after school) Wednesday-Wear Halloween Costumes (MUST be school appropriate and the school dress code STILL APPLIES!!) Wednesday (cont.)-Pie Day
Sell pink slushies all month Pie Day-Students can donate 25¢ for 1 vote, 50¢ for 2 votes, and $1 for 3 votes inside a box and write the teacher they are voting for on a card and put it in the ballot box. Voting will be from Oct.15 until Oct.29. On Oct. 31st the teacher who gets voted the most will receive a whipped cream pie to the face. At the end of the day, it will get recorded. Survival Day-PowerPoint with a collection of B.C. survivor stories. Memorial Day-Students can give stories of loved ones who fought the battle of breast cancer to be displayed in a powerpoint and on the cancer tree. Students can be anonymous if they choose. Cancer Sucks! Bucket- Bucket of lollipops with the stick colored.Whatever lollipop you pull depending on the color of the stick is how much you pay (free-75¢). Cancer Tree- Paper tree with pink ribbons, survival stories, answers to the question asked in clubs, and memorial to passed family members to be displayed outside of Ms. Wiley’s room. Dress Staff/ Faculty- Students bring wacky pink items for staff/ faculty to wear. Pumpkin Dress-Up Competition- Teachers can decorate a pumpkin; whoever has the coolest pumpkin wins a pink Edible Arrangements basket
IMPORTANT BACTERIAL MENINGITIS INFORMATION FOR JUNIOR AND SENIOR STUDENTS Check your MyLoneStar account. If you have a Bacterial Meningitis HOLDyou will NOT be allowed to take any college courses on the LSC campus. Please see your AVID teacher for a copy of the LSC approved 3 Ways to comply with the bacterial meningitis vaccination requirements. Please adhere to the directions for complying with the vaccination requirements! DO NOT request a copy of your shot records from the nurse, that information will not satisfy the requirements!! Bacterial Meningitis holds must be resolved before Tuesday, 11/13/18!

Sack lunches • Students if you will be returning on the 1 p.m. bus from Lone Star, please make sure to pick up your sack lunch before leaving to Lone Star. You will not be allowed to pick up a lunch from the cafeteria when you return.
