  3. Aisha H. Strothers 4006 Sentinel Drive, Indian Trail, NC 28079 (704) 497-0809 astrothers@carolina.rr.com October 10, 2012 Dear Sir or Madam: I would like to be considered for the Communications and Marketing Director position posted on CareerBuilder.com. I see that you are seeking a candidate who is an effective communicator. While my work experience has not been specifically in marketing, I have had to use marketing and communications in my work as a fundraiser to attain success. I am relatable and have a knack for developing relationships. In addition, I can express myself verbally and in written form. These abilities, compounded with my background in marketing, my experience in non-profit fundraising, and my passion for helping children makes me an excellent fit for this position at Alexander Youth Network. I was most recently the Assistant Director of Development for Care Ring, a Charlotte non- profit that works to provide access to healthcare for uninsured and underinsured individuals. In this capacity, I identified and cultivated donors; oversaw the Young Professionals Committee; prepared faith-based and community grants; produced and oversaw direct mail campaigns; produced e-newsletters and other email correspondence distributed to agency supporters; organized and managed fundraising and program events; and managed agency and event volunteers. As a non-profit professional, my knowledge rewards me with a broad skill set and a capacity to adapt across business disciplines and environments. I have no doubt that this drive and enthusiasm will carry over into any future position that I hold. In addition to my experience, I am a quick study, a resourceful planner and organizer, a self- starter, and I am both an effective leader and a team player. I am eager to talk with you about my potential to contribute to Alexander Youth Network’s goals. You may reach me by phone or email. I look forward to hearing from you soon. Sincerely, Aisha Strothers
